I founded ChamberFest Dubuque in 2009 to support the Northeast Iowa School of Music, a community music school in Dubuque, Iowa, which was struggling to survive the economic downturn. I continue to serve as artistic director of ChamberFest, which has grown to a week-long, annual music festival that takes place every June. Our programs include orchestra and chamber concerts, educational seminars and masterclasses, house concerts, and live performances on Iowa Public Radio. Since 2009, ChamberFest has brought some of the top classical artists of my generation to Dubuque, including Grammy Award-winning vocalist Virginia Warnken and Van Cliburn prize-winning pianist Sean Chen. The festival has raised tens of thousands of dollars for NISOM, and has become a highlight of Dubuque’s cultural offerings.
